The factory Smith & Wesson Historian has confirmed this exceptional Model of 1905 1st Change M&P Target shipped on June 8, 1908 to the Marcus Hartley Company in New York, New York. The gun is equipped with the seldom seen period 8” H.M. Pope marked barrel, original blue finish, adjustable target sights and factory gold medallion mother of pearl service grips. Of the very few Pope barreled Smith & Wesson revolvers in existence this is by far the finest example we have offered for sale!
The gun remains in truly extraordinary condition, doubly so considering it is over 112 years old! The original bright blue finish is exceptional and rates 98%+ with just the tiniest bit of scattered aging which is mostly on the grip straps. The bore and cylinder chambers are mint and the mechanical working order is flawless. The factory pearl grips fit to perfection and have gorgeous fire colors. Overall this is among the most unique and valued M&P Target we have offered for sale in some time. The gun will make a very special and valuable addition to any collection!
