FBI Issued Smith & Wesson .38/44 Heavy Duty

$6,500

A factory letter accompanies this incredible FBI Issued .38/44 Heavy Duty confirming the ultra rare configuration and detailing its original shipment on August 22, 1938 to Carl W Hayette, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alcohol Tax Unit, in Detroit, Michigan. The gun is equipped with the rare 4” barrel, original bright blue finish, Humpback Hammer and the original numbers matching checkered walnut silver medallion magna grips.

One of less than 250 built with a 4” barrel this exceedingly nifty .38/44 is among only a small handful special ordered with a Humpback Hammer! Note the gorgeous SD Meyers carved and lined holster is included. The gun remains in exceptional condition overall retaining virtually 99% of the original bright blue finish with some light scattered handling evidence and faint wear. The bore and cylinder chambers are mint and the original grips are every bit as crisp as the gun itself. Bottom line the coolest Heavy Duty we have ever offered for sale!
