Smith & Wesson 3rd Model Transition Target .44 Special

$2,650

Built in 1947 this .44 Hand Ejector 3rd Model Transition is one of just 1473 manufactured from 1946-1949. One of the few transition .44 Special models made this excellent 5-screw has a pre war barrel with the patent date markings, a large ejector rod knob, one line frame address, long action and checkered walnut diamond magna sharp shoulder grips. This awesome N-frame has been converted by the King Gunsight Company into a target model with a fully adjustable King rear target assembly with a white-outline rear sight blade as well as a gold bead sight mounted on a reflector base.

A fantastic period Transition .44 ‘Target’ model that remains in excellent overall condition! The gun retains 98% of the original satin blue finish with some very slight wear at the muzzle ends and a few scattered handling marks. The bore and cylinder chambers are mint and the mechanical working order is proper in every respect. There are very few Transition .44 Specials to be had and only a small handful with a King conversion, this will have a very special place in any collection!
