Smith & Wesson Transition 38/44 Outdoorsman Mfd. 1947 Toole, Utah!

$3,850

Built in 1947 this very scarce Transition model 38/44 Outdoorsman is equipped with a 6 1/2″ barrel, the original satin blue finish, the matching numbered checkered walnut sharp-shoulder diamond magna grips and a pinned patridge front sight blade. Note the gun has the one line ‘MADE IN USA’ frame address and is built on a long action pre-war frame with the large ejector rod knob. The blued steel cleaning rod, proper for very early post war S&W’s, along with the bore brush and tissue wrap come in the original numbers matching maroon box. This is a wonderful and all original example of the model that retains 99% of the original satin blue finish with only the faintest of collector-type handling evidence.. The original maroon two piece box is every bit as crisp and mint as the gun itself, be sure to note the TARGET stamp on the label and bottom, as well as the handwritten annotation “Toole, Utah Oct. 2 1947”. A serious addition for the advanced N-frame collector this is complete in the original box!
