Smith & Wesson Special Order New Model #3 Target .44 Russian
A factory letter accompanies this special order New Model #3 target confirming the rare cofiguration and detailing its original shipment on February 7, 1900. The gun is equipped with a 6 1/2″ barrel, original bright luster blue finish, target sights, matching numbered checkered black rubber service grips and a Russian trigger guard. All numbers are matching! This is a fantastic special ordered NM#3 and is one of just a very small handful with the Russian trigger guard. The gun is all original and remains in outstandingly well preserved condition. The bore and cylinder chambers are mint and the mechanical working order is flawless in every way.
The gun retains a truly impressive amount of the original blue finish, the frame is outstanding as are the grip straps showing only slight wear and aging, the barrel is excellent with a little muzzle wear and couple tiny old spots of corrosion on the left side, the cylinder shows some patination and edge wear with a spot of old corrosion on one cylinder flute that indexes perfectly. Overall this is an incredible find for the New Model #3 collector looking for an all original virtually one-of configuration in high condition.
