Smith & Wesson Pre Model 29 .44 Magnum 4″ 5-Screw Original Sales Receipt Military Shipment

$6,500

A copy of the original sales invoice accompanies this rare Pre Model 29 .44 Magnum confirming the configuration and detailing its early shipment on February 27, 1957 to Exchange Officer to the Army & Air Force Exchange Service in New York, New York as part of a single unit special order. Note the invoice lists the gun as ‘Firearms for Military Agency’ and there is a note ‘PLEASE SEND US PROOF OF EXPORT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE’, likely a solider stationed overseas purchasing the gun from a PX Exchange.  The gun is equipped with the sought after 4″ barrel, original bright blue finish, red ramp front sight, white outline rear sight and the checkered Goncalo Alves diamond target stocks AKA ‘Cokes’.

This fantastic .44 Magnum is complete in the original numbers matching pebble grain display case with the unused cleaning tools as well as the original 1957 dated receipt! The case shows a little wear mostly to the inside as is common. Overall the gun is in outstanding virtually as-new condition and retains 99%+ of the original bright blue finish. The ‘Cokes’ are gorgeous and are super crisp and sharp. A really special .44 Magnum that is fresh to market having been with the original family since its purchase. Absolutely positively as good as it gets; a must own N-frame!!
