Smith & Wesson Factory Engraved Model 1905 4th Change

$6,500

Three factory letters accompany this incredible special ordered and factory engraved Smith & Wesson Model of 1905, 4th Change confirming the configuration and detailing its original shipment on June 6, 1916. The gun features No. 5 coverage cut by Harry Jarvis, who was then a new S&W employee. Note the special ordered  checkered grip straps and checkered trigger along with the fabulous checkered period mother of pearl grips. Knowledgeable collectors are aware of the extreme rarity of any special order checkered feature, with few known examples and only a handful of such being factory engraved. It is quite clear in handling the gun that it received extra-special attention in the polishing and finishing department as the original blue finish is especially brilliant.

The gun remains in wonderful condition retaining 99% of the extremely bright original blue finish which shows only the faintest of collector type handling evidence as well as a light cylinder line. The bore and cylinder chambers are mint! The beautifully checkered pearls fit the gun to perfection and are a real treasure all their own. Overall one of the coolest factory engraved M&P’s we have had the pleasure to offer and one that will make a very special addition to any collection.
