Smith & Wesson .38 Chiefs Special Pre Model 36 S/N 575

This outstanding and very scarce Pre Model 36 aka .38 Chiefs Special ‘Baby Chief’, serial number 575, is equipped with a 2″ barrel, original satin blue finish and original numbers matching checkered walnut diamond magna grips. The gun is complete in the original numbers matching red box with the tissue wrap, cleaning tools and February 9, 1952 dated sales receipt from the Jim Flynn Inc. Sporting Goods store in Dayton, Ohio. This is an extremely early ‘Baby Chief’ with the half moon front sight, used only on the earliest production guns.

The gun retains 99% of the original satin blue finish and is outstanding from end to end with only the faintest of collector type handling evidence! High condition guns in a rare configuration complete in the original box with the original sales receipt are very seldom found by collectors, this one is a truly special and will have a unique place in any high-grade collection of S&W revolvers.
